As you guys have probably seen in my earlier post Cold Shoulder , I am nothing short of obsessed with this emerging trend. Bare shoulders first peaked in the fashion industry during the 70s. Prior to that, women were shamed for showing their shoulders. Can you believe there was even a time in history when a woman exposing her elbows was considered provocative? PSHTTTTT.
The off'-the-shoulder trend reemerged in recent years and has taken high fashion and street style by storm. In the past few weeks, I have noticed a new off-the-shoulder trend, or should I say more of an updated version? It combines that effortless "just got out of bed and ran out the house because I'm fashionably late to everything as per usual" look (AKA ME) with the sexy and sultry elegance of the already established trend. Rihanna was one of the first people spotted rocking a twist on this trend, and of course it has blown up ever since, seen on the streets, on the runway during NYFW, and all over Instagram in various forms.
